Community Eligibility

WHAT IS SARANAC'S PERCENTAGE OF IDENTIFIED STUDENTS?

Saranac's identified student percentage is approximately 35% for the 2021-2022 school year.

DOES SARANAC CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT PROVIDE FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH TO ALL STUDENTS?

We do not. The USDA's Food and Nutrition Services provides a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows the nation's highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students. A district or school is able to enroll in CEP if the percentage of identified students is above 40%. An identified student lives in a household that receives benefits such as SNAP/Food Stamps, Medicaid, TANF Cash Assistance, or FDPIR.
